New trick!

Last night Matthew was fussing a bit around 1:00 a.m., so Ryan went to check on him and found him on his tummy! He rolled from his back to his tummy while we were sleeping. Then we both witnessed him do it two more times during the day today. He rolled from his back to his tummy and then to his back again. He seems to prefer to sleep on his side now too!

New Photos

I put new photos on the usual site of late September. Some are from the wedding reception, Alexis' first birthday and misc. shots from the house.

Ryan and I took advantage of the nice night and went for a walk with Matthew and Norm. When we got home, I snapped this shot of Matthew with his puppy hat. He is just so cute! After the walk, Matthew got a bath and while I was applying his lotion I got him laughing so much. Every time I ran my fingers around his neck he would laugh. The tickle spots are starting to show and it is so much fun. He will turn four months old next Wednesday already. Where has the time gone?

Sorry so long!

We have been very busy in the Chenery household in the past few weeks. Going back to work full time has definitely been an adjustment, but a good one. I love my job and I love what I do there. It has been very nice to get back into a routine with work and being a mommy the same time. Matthew loves being at daycare and smiles at Deah now when I drop him off. That is very comforting. Matthew can almost roll over from his back to his tummy. He can get up onto his side and kick his leg over, but he just can't get that pinned arm undone to be fully rolled over. I think it will happen very soon though.

Matthew is like clockwork, waking up with our alarm at 5:30 to eat. After he is done eating and he is dressed for the day, he goes back to sleep. He usually stays asleep until after he arrives at daycare. Setting up times to pump at work have been a little difficult, but I have been making it work. Since every afternoon has a different schedule, I just do it when I can. We had Open House at school this past Thursday and Ryan brought Matthew for a little while. Many of my students and their families that were there were excited to see him in person. On Friday night we went out for a few hours while Grandma and Grandpa Genisio watched Matthew and put him to bed. It was a late night for us...we were home at 10:00. Last night we went to a wedding reception with Matthew and he was wonderful there too. Then today we went to a first birthday for Alexis Lemmer. Last night he set a new sleep record though, sleeping for a ten hour stretch! We have taken some new photos and will get them uploaded soon. I hope everyone is doing well!

Weekly Update

Not much new to report in the happenings of Matthew. He really seems to enjoy day care and is always happy when Ryan or I pick him up. His giggles have turned into full blown laughs with the occasional snort when he gets really excited. We are just loving being parents!

Matthew is also a very active sleeper. The past few nights we have placed him in his crib with his feet facing the door and his head towards the window. When he starts to wake up in the morning and we go into his room, he has magically turned completely around during the night. His feet in the morning have been facing the window and his head near the door. Somehow he does this while still being swaddled under the arms. He also has been using his head as a pivot and has started getting up on his side from laying on his back. He will arch his back and use his head to press onto the mattress or ground and get on his side. I don't think it will be long until he is rolling from back to front.

When we took a rough weight measurement last week, Matthew was 14 pounds and a bit shy of 24 inches long. He has pretty doubled in weight since leaving the hospital and grown 3 1/2 inches too.

Three Months Old!

A lot of things have happened in our house in the past three months. We welcomed Matthew, moved into a new house and even trained an old dog a new trick (not running away!). I go back to work tomorrow and Matthew ill go to daycare. He did very well last week. It took him a few days to become comfortable enough to take a nap, but by the third day he was a sleeping machine. He is all smiles when we pick him up and it carries into the night at home. Our daycare provider, Deah, said he is very happy during the day and smiles and makes all sorts of noises.

Matthew is now very content with rolling over from his tummy to his back and does it often during tummy time. He loves to do "airplane" and fly through the air and he especially loves to lay on your chest and smile and giggle. Yes I said giggle. He did it three times yesterday while he was having so much fun! He has really blossomed into a new child over the past month. He is getting his personality now and only cries when he is hungry. He continues to sleep very well and has no problems going to sleep at night. We are very fortunate. Once he has had his last meal for the night, we change a diaper, swaddle under the arms and he is out like a lite without fussing.

I am looking forward to the next three months with Matthew and see all the new things he will accomplish. We will keep you posted!
