Matthew's First Thanksgiving

We enjoyed our first Thanksgiving as a family! Matthew was able to see all of his grandparents, great grandparents (with the exception of Great Grandma Genisio) aunts and uncles in one day! It was a long and exhausting day, but well worth it all! My grandparents were finally able to come out and visit (from Arizona) and meet Matthew for the first time. He really is a lucky little kid to have so many loving grandparents and great grandparents.

He is still working on those bottom two teeth. This weekend seemed more painful than any other. When I was massaging his gums, I can feel a sharp ridge on the bottom gum line. When I was putting the Orajel on his gums, the swab was getting snagged on the gum line as well. I don't think it will be much longer.

Matthew will try his first solid food next weekend, we are very excited to venture into that world! He is more than ready! Enjoy the photos of our first Thanksgiving! We all hope everyone had a safe and happy one as well.

Matthew and Brady

While Ryan went to the Michigan State vs. Penn State football game, Matthew and I visited Lindsay and Brady, who were in town for the day. Matthew and Brady are about eight weeks apart in age! It is so much fun to see them together. Every time we get together, the boys are a little bit older and able to do just a little bit more. On this visit the boys noticed each other. They were watching each other move and smile. Brady is quickly catching up to Matthew in height and will soon surpass him, as will all of his friends probably :) Click here to see the photos!

I am looking forward to the four day weekend after a long week at school. We have parent/teacher conferences Monday evening and Tuesday afternoon & evening. Ryan will be playing mommy and daddy both evenings because I will not be home until after 8:00 both evenings. By the time I get home, Matthew will be in bed. My grandparents will also be here for Thanksgiving to see both of their great grand babies (Matthew and Maia) for the first time! We will make the rounds Thursday to see all of Matthew's relatives as well. It will be a very exciting and busy few days.

I forgot to share on my earlier post that when Matthew went to the pediatrician for his ear infection, he weighed 15 pounds 8 ounces! We measured him and he was a sliver over 25 inches. He is still working on those two bottom teeth as well! We wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!!

On the Mend

Matthew returned to daycare today feeling much better. It is amazing what a day on antibiotics will do for a sick baby!! Yesterday he woke up very smiley and happy. He slept a lot yesterday and was a little cranky towards the end of the day. He slept through the night last night letting us know he was feeling much better. That was nice for all of us! When I got to daycare and Matthew saw Deah, he let out a HUGE smile and giggle. That was nice to see too. He will be on antibiotics until next Wednesday.

Tis the Season!

Matthew and I are home from school and daycare today because Matthew has a pretty nasty cold and cough. He just wasn't himself this weekend, sleeping a lot and cranky when he was awake. We had to make him eat because he didn't have an appetite and when he did nurse, he couldn't because of the congestion. He was able to take a bottle much easier though. He was up for four hours Saturday night and then about every half-hour to hour last night. I took him to the pediatrician this morning and he has an ear infection on top of the cold. His lungs were clear though, so that is a good sign.

His congestion is starting to break up and when he coughs, he often will get some up in the cough. Poor little guy! He is on antibiotics for ten days for the ear infection and hopefully the cold and cough will trickle out within the next few days or so. We want him to be healthy and happy for Thanksgiving! He is much happier sitting propped up, so we rigged a place on the couch for him (with a comforter and toss pillows) to nap comfortably. His smile has returned this afternoon, making me feel a little better about his first time being sick. Now I know what my parents went through all those times with me! Sorry mom and dad.

Teething!

Matthew is working on his bottom two teeth! Right now they are little blisters on the surface of his gums, ouch! He has done fairly well so far (knock on wood). He was up the other night off and on, but did much better last night and the night before. Matthew is also working on sitting up unassisted. Right now he can hold himself up for a few seconds, then lean forward. He then will play with his feet and push himself back up to try to sit, usually falling over to the side or backwards. It is just so much fun!

Happy Halloween

From Halloween

Matthew had a wonderful first Halloween. He made an appearance at my school in the afternoon for our whole school parade. After a late afternoon nap, we had family over to pass out candy. Grandma and Grandpa Genisio, Grandma and Grandpa Chenery, Grandma and Grandpa Reslock, and Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa Chenery all came over to play with Matthew. He was all laughs all night. He fell asleep around 8:30 and I had to wake him up at 7:00 to eat before going to daycare. We took a few more photos tonight in his costume before I put it away for good. We hope everyone else had a safe and happy Halloween!
